, We almost walked out upon our arrival. I am certain that an employee was smoking in the back room and since we had to hunt down an employee each time we needed something, it was hard to ever gauge the friendliness of the staff. This is a VERY OLD and MUSTY place. If this place wasn't clean, we would have…More

This an old hotel that has had some renovations, but appeared to be DIY, i.e. new linoleum in the bathroom but the door stuck in multiple places due to uneven floor. Other patrons were rude (arriving drunk in the middle of the night, allowing an early morning alarm to ring without stopping) but staff attempted to contain the situations.

Thank you for taking the time to provide comments on our hotel. We are constantly trying to improve our hotel and take comments from our guests to help us improve our hotel.More gcassadyGoodview, VirginiaLevel Contributor 25 reviews 4 hotel reviews3 helpful votes

The building is old but is very clean and lots of new paint. The mattress were the best to sleep on. I've worked over 5 years in hotel maintenance, and I would stay here again. 12 foot ceiling, A/C or you can open the window. the parking garage is a block away, but is free when staying. The room does…More

Last week, I chose to stay at this hotel because it was located in the historical district of Baltimore. I was attending a convention and it was within walking distance. So instead of staying closer to the convention center and avoiding the higher cost, the Biltmore seemed a logical choice. There was no parking in front of the hotel. Cars…More

We appreciate your time and your comments on our hotel. As our hotel is well over 100 years old, we have tried to leave it as it was originally built. We apologize for the smoking in the building by other guests. As you mentioned, we are a non-smoking hotel but some guests do not adhere to our restrictions. I should have paid more attention to the reviews. This place has a lot of potential and a very friendly staff. Historic building but the hotel is not well maintained, and could really use some updating in terms of the flooring, walls, etc. It could be a charming hotel but in its current state it just feels old. Also, not…More

I was very excited to stay here. I did not heed an earlier review of the place, which said essentially — stay away. I should have. Why the owners don't treasure this property and take care of the GEM that it is, is beyond me. The location is perfect. You're in the heart of the Mt Vernon neighborhood, walking distance…More

Very large rooms furnished in a shabby chic antique sort of fashion. The public area carpets are worn and a bit grimy. Sparse outlets for recharging electronics. Extension cords running along the floors and walls everywhere. A strong smell of cleaning products knocks you over. My room faced West Madison Street and was a bit noisy with car traffic. My…More

Yes, the building is old and worn. It reminded my of my college apartment (although here the plumbing worked very well – my apartment was another story). The shower was nice and hot and the beds were comfortable. Yes, the painting and plastering is not perfect, the floor creaks and the walls were thin (or the person across the hall…More

This is a charming old hotel, and very inexpensive — anyone who was looking for an elevator or special amenities wasn't paying attention. I agree the bathroom toiletries weren't great — I think the rooms should have good quality soap, but the hotel could keep other high-quality things at the front desk for anyone who requests them. The price is…More

Thank you for your time and comments about our hotel. We do try to provide good quality amenities but we will review our current selections and adjust accordingly. We do believe that our hotel offers the best value for a hotel in the Mount Vernon district and Downtown Baltimore.More LarryArmoldHarrisburg, PennsylvaniaLevel Contributor 26 reviews 8 hotel reviews7 helpful votes

"Location, location, location" it's said. The Biltmore Suites had prime location for activities for a New Year's Day in Baltimore. Hoping a presumed old-world charm, its location in upscale Mt Vernon, and low price would trump some negative reviews, we booked it.Regrettably for hotels, more than location is important. The Biltmore's "charm" isn't old-world; it's ancient-world. Forget elevators; access…More

We apologize for the issue you experienced at our hotel. We will look into why the heating unit was generating the smell you noticed. While we do have Suites with a King and Queen bed, you had reserved a Room with Two Queen beds, which is why we gave you a Room with Two Queen beds.
