I stayed at this hotel for 1 night (check-in Oct 15, 2016) and I paid $193.16 in CASH for my reservation. When I got home, I found they charged me the same amount again from my credit card.I called the hotel and they said that according to their records they had two reservations at my name for the same…More
Hotel is in perfect location. theatre district. Walking distance to market, etc. Great area to access tours, only 3 minute walk to transportation building (City Place) . Rooms small, but it is mostly because it is an historical, older building, but was really clean. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Despite comments about breakfast and size of room, breakfast was…More
Alice – thanks for your headline which says everything – “Location, price, clean and friendly”. We know the rooms are small. We get a fair number of negative comments about breakfast, but we believe we offer a good array of options for a free continental breakfast. We do not claim to offer a hot breakfast or European deli breakfast. Your…More LauraTee123Birmingham, United KingdomLevel Contributor 14 reviews 6 hotel reviews9 helpful votes
The hotel is in a great location for Boston Common and the Freedom Trail as well as the shopping districts and (whilst still expensive) was priced reasonable compared to other hotels of a similar location.Basically if you're in Boston on a budget, this is the best you can hope for. However – I don't know where the money goes…More
Laura – We just purchased the hotel and plan to begin full renovation in December and we’ll address the many items that you mentioned. In the meantime we try to provide the best value in Boston, and as you noted, we’re in an amazing location for all visitors. Thank you for your constructive feedback. This is an old style historic building with small European style rooms. Helen, the receptionist was very friendly efficient and knowledgeable of the area. (5 stars for Helen) The room was small but clean. The bed was adequate. No art on the walls, a cheap mirror on one wall. The breakfast was disappointing with a very cramped eating area. 2…More
Bill – thank you for our kind words about Helen – she is a Boston wonder! As you mentioned, we plan to start renovation in December, and we’re very excited about that. We hope you’ll come back and visit us again next year. David.More Adam PIpswich, United KingdomLevel Contributor 48 reviews 14 hotel reviews23 helpful votes
We booked the Milner for three nights as it was the last hotel left in our price bracket, albeit at the upper end at $200 per night. The main thing that attracted us to the hotel was the location, which looked quite central. While we knew the rooms would be small, we were just looking for a base more than…More
Adam, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We always appreciate learning from our guest’s experiences, even if disappointing. As you discovered, Boston is an expensive city, and there are few options in the $200-300 range during peak season, (which goes through November.) We are planning a renovation which will start in December, and will be addressing your concerns…More Charlotte VLevel Contributor 7 reviews 3 hotel reviews
We stayed as a group of friends and were given rooms together which was nice but only one of them was decent. One was very dated and small with little room to get around the bed.The breakfast area is totally inadequate for the number of rooms and we had to stand to eat. The actual breakfast was very poor…More
Charlotte – Thanks for staying with us and for your review. I agree that the breakfast area is small, and as a small hotel we are “space challenged”. We try to provide a limited complimentary continental breakfast, hence the disposable plates and cutlery. We will be commencing renovation in December and that will result in a number of significant improvements….More TouringOnionBermudaLevel Contributor 79 reviews 28 hotel reviews15 helpful votes
Stayed one night on business trip .. the room was small and outdated at end of corridor overlooking garbage. Must say the Front Desk agent was very helpful with local advice. The included breakfast was awful… the food was plastic and the room was flooded with flies everywhere !!!
We hope you had a good business trip to Boston and I am pleased that our guest service host was helpful with area information. Certainly agreed that our rooms are small. I apologize if our complimentary continental breakfast with yogurt, cereal, freshly baked muffins, self made waffles and Lavazza coffee did not meet your expectations. This is a really old hotel, the rooms are tiny, the updates are so so, but I gave it a good plus for having an excellent, friendly, and helpful staff. Also the location seems to be very good, excellent for walking to just about any of the main tourist areas.
Thank you for such kind words about our team members! And yes – we really do have a great location – one that lends itself to being out and about in Boston since, yes our rooms are small. Thanks for staying with us, I’m glad you enjoyed your visit. David.More Jano C1 review
We arrived very tired after a long journey. The hotel was unable to process our credit card (have had no trouble with card before or since). We were booked to stay two nights and as we had already paid for one night in advance we requested that we go to our room to sort out the problem with the card…More
Jano, thank you for your review. I too would be frustrated with payment issues upon arrival. Hotels are somewhat unique process wise in the way that the banks hold funds so that may, or may not have been the issue with the card you were using. Prepaid cards, debit cards etc. are not the best form of credit to use…More Torben JLevel Contributor 3 reviews 1 helpful vote
Excellent location, nice staff however high price for a single room with little space to maneuver. Breakfast included and was good enough to live on.Road construction at night kept me awake at night.Review collected in partnership with this hotel This business uses tools provided by TripAdvisor (or one of its official Review Collection Partners) to encourage and collect guest reviews, including this one.
Torben, thanks for noting how great our location is, our team, and breakfast. I am not sure what the construction was – it’s certainly not a long term project and should not impact other guests. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, our hotel is probably not for you since the rooms are small, but…More PreviousNext123456…37Updating list… Still looking for a hotel?
