The price is why I picked this hotel. I like to stay closer to the city or on the north side but we had tickets to a concert and everything in Chicago was very expensive that weekend. The front desk was very polite. The room was normal hotel size, the bed and pillows were super comfy, I liked the way…More

Had a great stay, place was under construction when we were there but the room was fine and our dog was fine and the price was right. We walked to the softball field every night and played fetch with the dog. We ate at the restuarant for breakfest and enjoyed it. This place was perfect, halfway between the nature and…More

Thanks for writing a review. We don’t often get endorsements from dogs, but we’ll take it! Actually, the Museum of Science and Industry is just blocks away from the hotel. All other museums are clustered around Chicago’s Loop. Say hello to Fido for us. We”’ look forward to serving you again.More travellingshleprockChicago, Illinois2 reviews

I booked this hotel because I was attending a course at UChicago. When I first arrived, I realized that the place is essentially a motel. When I first got to my room, I realized that there was a gap between the door and the door frame – my room could be unlocked by slipping a plastic card into the gap!…More

Former rundown Ramada being revamped. The rooms are the pits. Didn't want to take my shoes off & walk on the carpet. housekping dropped my toothbrush on floor! Gaps in the doors, allows bugs to enter.

Thanks for writing a review. I will talk with housekeeping to ensure the toothbrush issued isn’t repeated. We’re working on the door issue, but not soon enough for you. I apologize.More Latanaya C2 reviews 1 helpful vote

Ok it's not the top of the line hotel and neither are the prices it is nice and clean inside and out the decor is a little dated and other than that the front desk was pleasant and courteous the room was clean my iron and all other electronic devices worked great no they don't have free breakfast but they…More

Travelling on a budget limited my choice but I was pleasantly surprised that this Hotel was actually really nice. The rooms are old but at least clean and very spacious. Located in a really great area in Hyde Park, I can definitely recommend Lake Shore Hotel.

Thanks for writing a review. Hyde Park is like a village unto itself, with many cultural events and the wonderful Museum of Science and Industry. The rooms are indeed old. we’re glad you enjoyed your stay. Come again!More Lloyd W1 review 1 helpful vote

We stayed for 2 days…not what we expected ! The rooms cost us $279.00 no micro wave, we had to go next door for breakfast at Laquinta ! No free coffee. The room furniture was scratched up, and old. The wood molding around the door was missing, and showing plaster. The rooms also were smelling of old dirty clothes….I would not…More

Thanks for writing a review. We’re sorry things didn’t work out for you. We assume you knew the price before you checked in. As for furniture and molding–no excuse for those things. We apologize. The hotel does offer $8 coupons to be used at the Lake Shore Cafe.More Ken COrlando, FloridaLevel Contributor 3 reviews 3 hotel reviews5 helpful votes

Terrible experience. Not what I expected. The iron caught fire, completely shocked me and burned my finger. Good luck in asking for a first aid kit as well. They don't have one at the front desk, but at least they do have an old, junk snack machine. Suggest not to leave your bag at front desk. They will place your…More

Thanks for writing a review. We know of no complaints regarding stolen items. We assume you would have contacted the police. We stand by the integrity of our staff. We do apologize for the hot iron. Clearly you had a bad experience.More John C2 reviews

Graduation weekend for parents of University of Chicago means expensive hotel tabs. We stayed here about a year and a half ago just prior to the La Quintal opening. They are both owned by the same company. They were renovating exteriors then and are still in the process. The hallway doors and frames have all been replaced. Windows are new…More

Thanks for writing a review. Navy Pier provides fireworks most weekends during the warmer weather. Guests may also want to know that great Lake Michigan beaches are just across from us. The water is cold but refreshing. We’re glad your stay with us was a happy one. Please come again!More A TripAdvisor Member
