Good stuff: location; splendid d├ęcor/architecture; friendly/helpful staffBad stuff: very expensive parking; charge for wifi in room; restaurant (staff advised to breakfast elsewhere!); some rooms/corridors very musty & sickly sweet smelling – we had to change rooms (& floors) on arrival; room very warm – could not get it cooler; room average/ordinary for price paidTips: eat breakfast at Tempo…More

Well situated. Mag mile adjacent and close to Navy Pier . Breakfast in hotel restaurant better than average but would have liked a real coffee bar. Next time I would probably stay near millennium park and art galleries. However nothing bad to say and very close to high end shopping.

At the beginning we had problems with getting the room we had booked. We still didn't get the corner room with double beds, but after being put in the 3rd room, we were offer a compensation for our trouble. All in all, it was a nice stay with satisfaction in the compensation. Yes, the elevators were small, but who wants…More

The staff was exceptional at this hotel. From the service in the reception area, to the parking valets, to the servers and the bartenders. Top notch. I left my wedding ring behind and called the hotel the next day. One of their housekeeping employees had turned it in, Mayra was her name. They mailed it back expeditiously. The room was…More

This hotel is in a great location. It is a vintage hotel so the rooms are smaller, and the furnishings a bit 'used' looking. Our room had no heat, we were told that Chicago doesn't allow hotels to turn on the heat until the weather outside is in the 50's. The sink plug was broken. There was no internet, and…More

Stayed there during the Chicago Marathon weekend. I found the hotel perfect. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, good bathroom and good amenities. Staff were pleasant, specially the bellmen. Front desk staff were a bit snobby and not very freindly. The hotel is old but the rooms have been recently renovated.Good location, on the magnificent mile. Great shops…More

We were in Chicago for a girl's shopping trip. We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Knickerbocker. Great location and super friendly staff. They happily stored our luggage while we shopped all day after check out. Parking was 69.00,but were able to leave the car until 5:00 pm after checking out. Great experience!

Stayed here the weekend of the marathon. Arrived at 8:30 to first wait 20 minutes to get to the front desk, and then told that rooms were not yet available? At 8:30 pm? Come on. Ended up leaving luggage and heading out for dinner. Got back by 11:00 and room was finally ready. No offer of compensation, which at almost…More

Stayed here for the weekend of the the Chicago marathon, read many reviews both good and bad about the hotel, I found the hotel excellent, staff where friendly and very helpful, it was clean and well maintained, excellent location, with both the magnificent mile and the lake within walking distance

An example of a poorly-thought-out mix of old & updated is in the bar/lounge area: You sit down and are handed enormous, hard-to-hold iPad-type tablets, with displays and videos of drinks & snacks – but you can't order from the tablet! A waiter has to be flagged down, just like the "old days! Similar situation at breakfast.Very small rooms,…More
