The Drake Hotel, Chicago Hotels ReviewsAddress: 140 E. Walton Place, Magnificent Mile, Chicago, IL 60611-1501
I was in town for business. The shower had a drip that could be heard all night long. The closest light turned on and off when the closet door was opened, except my light never shut off. The bed was the worst bed I've been on. My floor was more comfortable. Breakfast was meh at best and over priced. the Drake is a highlight of any trip to Chicago – the location, service, tea, staff and building are tremendous. Views of Lake Michigan, shopping and restaurants are close within walking distance. The Art Institute is among the best in the world.Review collected in partnership with Hilton Hotels & Resorts This business uses tools provided by TripAdvisor (or one of its official Review Collection Partners) to encourage and collect guest reviews, including this one.
My wife and I stayed here for several nights and from the internet and a few friends recommendation thought we were in for a treat. It was ok. I don't think it was up to standard. It had its bright spots though, the bar downstairs was pretty cool "prohibition" bar. But it was disappointing from the start – we arrived…More
It has been many years since I stayed at the Drake but decided to do so last weekend on a visit to Chicago to see my daughter. I travel to Chicago about six times or so a year, and I always look at the Drake as an option, especially since I am a Hilton Honors member, but haven't done so…More
If you have been in Chicago you know that the Drake's location could not be better. Moreover, The Drake is one of those hotels stylish and full of stories. A perfect combination: great location, style and legends. Even as a very old and traditional hotel is in good shape. The service is OK for a large hotel: you can expect kindness…More
Our first choice in Chicago is not Hilton's Drake but Hilton's Conrad, which we prefer for its location and sleek modernity, but was under reconstruction. So we accepted the Drake alternative with some misgivings … and are thrilled that we chose it. This was in spite of our misgivings being confirmed: the Drake is far from modernity, and a little…More
My husband and I stayed at the Drake for our first wedding anniversary. We love historic hotels and this had a great location, so we booked a room. Overall, the hotel is a cool historic gem. The staff was very helpful. With a historic hotel, there are a few drawbacks. For example, the elevators were slow and the HVAC was…More
We have stayed at the Drake for the last three years for our annual visit to see the all the Christmas lights in the city and for the shopping. The lobby is so exquisitely decorated for Christmas. It feels like the small town displays that we grew up waiting all year for that no longer exists. My mom and I…More

We stayed just one night, but we'll definitely go back. It has a very convenient location. It is old but has been well cared for. Beautiful bar and Salsa dancing the evening we arrived! Employees were wonderful!

I was upgraded to a Lake view which made my trip. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown and is a quick walk to shops and restaurants. I was in town for a wedding which was also at the hotel and they did a wonderful job. Valet parking was a bit pricey but when I called they car…More
