We stayed in The Gray pre and post the Chicago Marathon, Location was great especially during Marathon weekend, The Building itself is Beautiful, the original architectural Details where outstanding. Marble all over the grandeur entrance overall the original Building is Amazing. The rooms are Ok they have nothing in common with the Grand Architectural feeling the building transmits. So Basically…More

Kimpton continues to up the bar with style and sophistication. The Gray exceed our expectations and that is directly related to the staff at the property. Each and every person we came in contact with was delightful and courteous. This was the most professional staff I have ever encountered in my travels. A special thank you to Rebecca and Bobby…More

Good day Richard0304,Thank you very much for sharing your recent stay experience at Kimpton Gray Hotel Chicago with the TA community. You’ve provided some great detail and also I’ve taken note of the music volume on the ground and concierge floors. This can be easily adjusted so we will monitor it closely going forward. If you have another opportunity…More ThedogeslSaint Louis, MissouriLevel Contributor 112 reviews 15 hotel reviews49 helpful votes

The Gray is the newest star in Kimpton's loop crown, and it has a lot going for it. We come to Chicago for the opera on a regular basis, and the Gray is only a 10 minute walk from the opera house. There don't seem to be quite as many restaurants open on weekends as there are at our usual…More

Only open a few weeks, this renovated former insurance company office building packs in the charm, as well as great service, in a downtown location. Food and bar service were exceptional and the rooms very comfortable.

Beautiful old building that has been thoughtfully updated with modern decor. It's clear they really paid attention to the details. They kept the original windows – which look great, but leave something to be desired in terms of sound insulation – quite a bit of street noise.Service was eager to help, but a little unpolished. Hopefully this will come…More

This is a new boutique type hotel with check in on the 2nd floor. It is a two block walk to Private Bank Theatre and about 4 block walk to Millenium Park. The 1st floor restaurant was closed due to repairs and the top floor was not open on Sunday. We were able to find satisfactory dining options just around…More

Stayed here with my wife while visiting our daughter in Chicago. Wow – really nice place: location and room. Our room had a comfy king bed and the bathroom was nice. Walk in shower with cool decor in the room. Kind of what you expect from a Kimpton property but even compared to those standards it was nice and very…More

We stayed at the Kimpton Gray on one of the first weekends it was open. We were excited to stay at the new hotel. It was a very cool and "chic" hotel. It was very clean. I give credit to the Kimpton for taking on this old office building but the architectural challenges did impact the rooms. For the price…More

We were there for the Chicago Marathon, we had just spent a couple of nights at a new Kimpton in Cleveland, so my expectations were high–and were met. Very friendly staff throughout. It's a new hotel so some issues still to be resolved. Only two issues, you need to ask if you want to have in room coffee maker, which…More
